Our pick as Barefoot Breaks' favourite resort in the Seychelles, Constance Lemuria occupies THE best location of any resort here, including two of the Seychelles’ most stunning beaches, as well as a superb 18-hole championship golf course - the delicious dining and superb service are the cherries on top!
Quite simply boasts THE most gorgeous location of any of the larger resorts in the Seychelles, including not one but two of the archipelago’s most gorgeous beaches in Petite Anse Kerlan and the wonderfully pristine Anse Georgette! Lemuria’s 101-hectare exclusive estate area occupies arguably the most gorgeous corner of Praslin island and the lack of any immediate neighbours results in a glorious feeling of unspoiled isolation!
We love the way that the main resort public area has been integrated into its natural surroundings – looking back whilst swimming off the beach and all you’ll see is a couple of thatched roofs poking unobtrusively through the surrounding forest (and perhaps the odd fruit bat flying about!)
Dining at Lemuria is a particular highlight – whilst our favourite of the 4 restaurants is probably the casually rustic Creole flavoured restaurant The Nest which also boasts stunning views being perched on a headland overlooking the beach, even the main buffet restaurant is a cut above what you normally expect
There are a series of swimming pools cascading attractively down the hillside (including one with a swim-up bar!) But frankly our choice was to head off to the beach with its crystal clear water and stunning white coral sand – you can laze beneath the palms on comfy loungers, bean bags or there’s even a few hanging day beds perfect for couples!
Alerting all keen golfers! Lemuria boasts a stunning 18-hole championship golf course (the only in the Seychelles) The more elevated tees with their breathtaking views out over the sea are particularly spectacular. A real test for the low handicappers but the sheer beauty of the course will keep everyone happy!
Lemuria offers up some serious eco-credentials – ranging from an important turtle nesting monitoring program (the resort’s “wild” beach, Grand Anse Kerlan, sees numerous green and hawksbill turtles lay their eggs there every year) to the water stations located around the resort where you can refill the provided complimentary water bottles. Also go and meet the protected giant Aldabra tortoises!
A special mention has to go to the wonderfully friendly staff! Drawn from more than 30 nationalities, we found them absolutely delightful and they really succeeded in putting guests at ease (we often find that staff in other 5-star resorts are more reserved and formal in their interactions with guests)
Rooms at Lemuria are quite classical and elegant (not surprising given the resort was built in 1999 although there was a renovation in 2016) – so if you’re wanting cutting-edge contemporary style and décor then this probably isn’t going to scratch that particular itch
The alcohol prices are notoriously high in the Seychelles – and Lemuria certainly doesn’t skimp here either! They also haven’t (yet) followed the emerging trend in Seychelles resorts to offer an All-Inclusive option
The resort is located on the approach to Praslin airport so you will see aircraft passing overhead during the day – however these are usually small turbo-prop de Havilland Twin Otters which aren’t particularly noisy
the focal point of the resort is the gorgeous Petite Anse Kerlan beach - a picture-perfect stretch of white coral sand framed by granite boulder studded forested headlands and backed by luxuriant palm trees, it makes for an exquisite sight and provides superb swimming

Nestled on the breathtaking island of Praslin, Constance Lemuria is our pick as Barefoot Breaks’ favourite resort in the Seychelles! Sure, new and more luxurious and contemporary (and expensive!) resorts have opened in recent years on these islands, but ultimately these new arrivals lack what Lemuria boasts in spades: that old essential quality known as POSITION, POSITION, POSITION! Quite simply Lemuria occupies THE best location of any resort on the 3 main islands of the Seychelles, including featuring not just one but two of the Seychelles’ most stunning beaches, as well as a superb 18-hole championship golf course which plots a spectacular path through the estate’s 100-plus hectares. Add in stylish and luxurious accommodation, delicious dining and wonderfully friendly personal service and Lemuria is pretty tough to match, let alone beat!
As mentioned, one of the standout features of Constance Lemuria is its stunning beaches. The focal point of the resort is the gorgeous Petite Anse Kerlan beach which is overlooked by the resort’s main public areas. A picture-perfect stretch of white coral sand framed by granite boulder studded forested headlands and backed by luxuriant palm trees, it makes for an exquisite sight and provides superb swimming as well as being a great location to enjoy a paddle, whether that be in a kayak or on one of the resort’s stand-up paddle boards! Otherwise just relax in the shade of the palm trees on the comfy loungers or bean bags – there are even 3 or 4 hanging day beds suspended from trees right on the edge of the beach which are absolutely perfect for couples! We also loved some of the special little touches – for example the complimentary fruit ice lollies that were handed out to guests at the beach when we were relaxing there one morning!
