This has to be the perfect honeymoon hideaway – the Black Parrot Suites are 12 exclusive and luxurious rooms perched spectacularly on a rocky headland overlooking a bay peppered with picturesque sandy coves.
Perhaps the most attractive and stylish hotel rooms on the entire island – the perfect oasis to just drop out of sight for a week whilst soaking up the company of your better half
With just 12 rooms, no access allowed to non-resident guests, and no guests under 14 years old allowed, the Black Parrot Suites are perfect for romantics looking for peace, tranquility and privacy
Lovely pool and bar area enjoys unarguably the most spectacular position and magnificent ocean views of any hotel on Praslin - other than the gorgeous new jetty pool and deck at the Coco de Mar that will no doubt tempt you to venture down the hill of course!
We love the large bath tubs located in the bedrooms themselves – an invitation to romance if ever we’ve seen one!
Whilst you have all the exclusivity of the Black Parrot Suites area, you also have access to the facilities of the rest of the Coco de Mer resort – in effect, the best of both worlds
This really isn’t the choice for you if you’re looking for the bright lights – both on account of the quiet, exclusive nature of the resort as well as the fact that you’re located away from the bars and restaurants of the popular Cote D’Or strip
You dine with the rest of the guests at the Coco de Mer restaurants – the one element where it’s not a totally exclusive experience
Probably not the best choice for guests whose mobility is limited on account of guests usually having to walk back up the hill from the main restaurant area – although there are a couple of golf buggies to assist
The prevailing winds bring seaweed onto the beaches here from May to October – however the hotel does provide a free shuttle to the stunning (and seaweed free) Anse Lazio beach on the other side of the island
ideally suited for honeymooners and other romantics wanting to chill in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility
Of all the resorts on Praslin that we saw, perhaps the most exclusive, intimate and classy of all of them was the Black Parrot Suites – a wonderfully positioned collection of just 12 suites perched spectacularly on a rocky headland overlooking a bay peppered with picturesque sandy coves in the south-eastern corner of the island.
The Black Parrot Suites actually form part of the Coco de Mer hotel – “a resort within a resort” is perhaps the best way to describe it as the Black Parrot Suites lie about 100m away from the main hotel and entry is exclusively reserved to guests staying there. It also boasts its own swimming pool and bar area, so guests staying here could easily hole up here for most of the day, emerging only at meal times which are housed in the Coco de Mer’s main restaurant. And with the Black Parrot Suites only accepting guests over the age of 14, it’s ideally suited for honeymooners and other romantics wanting to chill in an atmosphere of peace and tranquility.
It’s certainly a very inviting place to do just that. The rooms are spacious and extremely elegant in their shades of marine greens and beige. Whilst each of the suites differ slightly in shape and layout, all of them have a separate lounge area on the lower split level leading in turn out to a private veranda deck looking out over the azure waters and sandy coves of the bay below. A lovely feature of the bedrooms are the large baths positioned behind the low wall that serves as the headrest to the huge king size bed, so you can have a luxurious soak by candlelight whilst chatting to your partner. Add in the very appealing bathrooms with huge walk-in showers and twin vanities and these suites really are very attractive places in which to enjoy a blissful week’s break!
The area outside the suites isn’t too shabby either! The Black Parrot Suites area has its own exclusive use swimming pool which enjoys spectacular views to the ocean and beaches below. There’re also very comfy seats perfect for sprawling in with a good book whilst enjoying a cold cocktail from the nearby bar. No doubt you'll end up being tempted out of this haven to experience the extremely cool and chic jetty pool in the bay below that's obviously also utilised by guests from the Coco de Mer - this is a gorgeous contemporary new facility with a stunning rim-flow pool, shade provided by white sails and with lovely suspended netting lounge areas where you can laze lying literally over the water!
