Perched on a forest covered hillside above the beautiful bay of Anse Bois de Rose in the tranquil and undeveloped south-east corner of Praslin, the Coco de Mer offers perhaps the best value for money of all the Praslin resorts.
The star of the show here has to be the spectacular new jetty with its rim-flow pool, contemporary sails giving welcome shade and the suspended netting lounging areas so you can lie literally above the waters of the bay! Definitely one of the most gorgeous features of any Seychelles resort!
There are 3 separate little sandy coves here – so it’s always possible to find a deserted little patch of sandy beach away from other guests
We would pick the Superior Rooms for the closer proximity to the water - otherwise they are pretty much identical to the Standards. Spacious, clean and welcoming if no longer offering up-to-date style
Prices of drinks (although still expensive!) are better than at most hotels in this notoriously pricey chain of islands
We love the large bath tubs placed invitingly in the corner of the bedrooms – a seriously romantic set-up!
Lovely second pool area on the shore with loads of inviting hammocks alongside – or you can cool off with a cold beer or cocktail at the poolside bar!
The Coco de Mer is located in one of the most isolated areas of the island, far away from the bars and restaurants of Cote D’Or – so could be a bit too quiet for some people
The winds bring seaweed onto the beaches here from May to October – however the hotel does provide a free shuttle to the stunning (and seaweed free) Anse Lazio beach on the other side of the island
The Black Parrot Suites are a seriously tempting upgrade for not much more money (unless you have kids of course)
one of the nicest features (especially for honeymooners and other romantics) has to the large baths located in a corner of the bedroom itself!
40 Rooms - 22 Standards and 18 Superiors
Yes, 2 pools including the jetty pool suspended over the sea
The Coco de Mer actually consists of 2 linked resorts – the Coco de Mer itself with its 40 rooms and the Black Parrot Suites, a more upmarket section of 12 suites located spectacularly on a headland slightly separated from the main resort. With the Black Parrot Suites only accepting guests over the age of 14, the Coco de Mer is obviously the family friendly option here. But peace and tranquility is definitely the natural way of things here – unlike the much busier stretch of beach that is the Cote D’Or in the north of the island, there are no other restaurants or resorts anywhere near the Coco de Mer to disturb your peace.
What you do get to enjoy is one of the prettier locations of any resort in the Seychelles – 200 acres of natural forest covered hillside (including some rare specimens of the unique coco de mer palm from which the resort takes its name) plunges spectacularly down to the azure waters of the bay, where a series of small, private sandy coves lure sun worshippers and swimmers – there’s even decent snorkeling with plenty of fish to be seen around the rocky headlands and the jetty.
